Privacy Policy

SharkTank.news is an independent fan site. We collect as little personal information as we can while running the site, and we do not sell personal information.

What we collect

• Newsletter email address. Only if you subscribe. We use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm from the email we send you. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes you from the active list.
• Usage analytics. Page views and interactions (for example, clicking a “Buy on Amazon” or source link) collected through Google Analytics, loaded by Google Tag Manager. This uses cookies and collects an approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you visit. We do not send your email address or any form contents to analytics. Analytics is not loaded on the newsletter confirmation page.
• Performance metrics. Anonymous page-speed measurements (Vercel Speed Insights) that record how fast pages load on real devices. These contain no personal identifiers.
• Server logs and abuse protection. Our host records standard request logs (IP address, URL, time) for security and debugging. Newsletter sign-ups are rate limited by IP address to block spam; that counter is short-lived.

Services that process data on our behalf

• Vercel hosts the site and provides Speed Insights.
• Supabase stores our database, including newsletter subscribers.
• Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager provide usage analytics.
• Resend sends newsletter confirmation and newsletter emails.
• Amazon Associates. Some product links are affiliate links; see our affiliate disclosure. Amazon sets its own cookies when you follow those links.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies (for example _ga) to recognize returning browsers. You can block them with your browser settings or an ad blocker; the site works without them. We do not use advertising cookies today. If we add display advertising, we will update this policy and add a consent choice first.

Retention

• Newsletter addresses: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Analytics: Google Analytics retains event-level data for the period configured in our account (up to 14 months).
• Server logs: retained by our host for a short rolling window.

Your choices and requests

To unsubscribe, use the link in any email. To ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted, use the contact route on our corrections page. We answer requests from any location.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
