What is in the database
One row per pitch as broadcast on Shark Tank (US). Each pitch records the entrepreneur's ask (amount and equity), the on-air outcome, the investing sharks and the terms announced on air. Each company has one page, however many times it appeared. Seasons are added as episodes are processed; the counts above are the honest state of coverage today, and the word “every” in our page titles is the goal we measure against here.
How deals are counted
- A pitch counts as a deal when the entrepreneur accepted an offer on air. Deals that later fell through are still on-air deals; we note later changes on the company timeline when a source reports them.
- Multi-shark deals count once per pitch. For dollar totals per shark we assume an equal split unless the episode stated otherwise.
- Where a deal happened but the terms were not confirmed, the pitch is counted as a deal with “terms not confirmed” and contributes nothing to dollar totals.
- Valuations are implied: ask amount ÷ equity. They are not audited figures.
How status verdicts work
A company is shown as verified in business, acquired or closed only when at least 2 independent sources (different websites, not the company's own) agree and the check is under 12 months old. Older checks are labeled “last verified”; anything else is “unverified”. Full rules: editorial policy.
What is not covered
- International versions of the show (Dragons' Den, Shark Tank Australia, and others).
- Private financials. “Reported revenue” is what a cited public source reported.
- 1,428 company pages are published but kept out of search engines until they have enough verified detail.
Sources and corrections
Episode facts come from the broadcasts; status verdicts and timeline entries cite their sources inline. If something is wrong, see the corrections policy. The full deals table is downloadable as CSV from the deals page.
